Amy has integrated ReAttach into her workplace, applying it to the families and children she works with and to her colleagues. “I manage a small team and use ReAttach in my supervisions with them as interventions,” Amy explains. This approach helps in managing and supporting staff who work directly with traumatized young people.
Regarding her work with families, Amy focuses on issues from their childhood or matters related to the care of their children. ReAttach has been a tool for addressing deep-seated issues and fostering a space for healing and processing. “It has been a nice method and tool to incorporate in the support that we offer, which then has a knock-on effect on the support that my colleagues offer,” she notes.
Amy uses ReAttach in various scenarios, including during shifts in a playful form, to help settle children for bedtime or when they feel anxious or nervous. She also mentioned its utility in preparing a child for a severe police interview in a case involving sexual abuse. “We did some W.A.R.A. and some ReAttach prior, and eventually, that young person went in and gave a statement which has supported a really big police investigation,” she recounts.
The long-term effects of ReAttach, as reported by Amy’s clients, include gaining inner space to process emotions and develop self-belief. Clients have reported making healthier decisions and feeling empowered to move forward after sessions. “I think it gives them the skills and the tools to go forward in life,” Amy says, emphasizing the method’s effectiveness without clients needing to find the right words or work too hard.
Looking forward, Amy hopes to see ReAttach more widely utilized across various sectors, including local authorities, police forces, and mental health teams. “It would be wonderful to introduce ReAttach as something other people could access in all areas.” she reflects, sharing her desire to expand the reach of ReAttach, given its benefits within her company.
Amy expresses a deep sense of fulfillment from her work with ReAttach, noting, “It makes me feel great. ReAttach gives a sense of achievement. I feel helpful in giving children, parents, and professionals the skills they may not know they could find or need.”
