Driven by the long waiting times at psychologists, sometimes up to nine months, Sulkers looked for alternative treatment methods to support children in the interim without immediately resorting to medication. “We wanted to offer more than just medication; we wanted to implement effective therapies,” explains Sulkers.
In his search for effective non-medication treatments, he discovered ReAttach, a therapy that promised quick results. The results of 400 treatments in the first year convinced him of the method’s effectiveness. His enthusiasm grew so much that Paula asked him to become a trainer.
As a pediatrician, Sulkers applies ReAttach to many children, including complex cases. He recalls a particularly challenging case of a girl with severe autism who almost could not be discharged from the clinic due to self-harm. “With Paula’s help and then eight sessions of my own, this girl was eventually able to continue her development normally at home,” Sulkers shares. Children typically come for four sessions of 20 minutes each, which integrates well with regular care.
Sulkers emphasizes ReAttach’s quick and compelling nature, which sets it apart from other therapies. “There is a great need for therapies that work quickly. ReAttach meets this need and often exceeds expectations so much that people sometimes can barely believe it,” he says. He hopes for a future breakthrough and believes that the therapy will expand from the ground up through the growing group of professionals applying ReAttach.
